Vegas Pro 18 immediately stops after clicking the shortcut

Richard-Marx wrote on 6/23/2021, 6:31 PM

Purchased Vegas Pro 18 yesterday from Amazon because of Prime Day and because it was time for me to improve my skills. Have been using Movie Studio Platinum 13 (64 bit) and Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 (32 bit) on this same machine without any problems.

I installed the software to Drive D: because I was low on space in Drive C:

Upon clicking the icon for Vegas Pro I was immediately confronted with a popup that said: "Vegas Pro has stopped working". Well, it never worked. This was my first attempt to start the program. I filled out the accompanying report and hit send.

I next tried running Sound Forge Pro 14 (64 bit). That yielded an "Error Code -5" message.

To say I am really disgusted at this point is an understatement. I have spent the better part of today trying to get this program to work. I have even  including uninstalled the files downloaded from Amazon and reinstalled those downloaded from the Vegas site. I really want this program to work on this computer. I have already tried the "Delete certain Windows Updates" fix. Those updates are no longer available for deleting on my machine.. Maybe someone can help me figure out what the problem is from the following information. I know how to retrieve this kind of technical info, do not know what a lot of it means but am not afraid to try some solutions if I can see a way to undo the changes to my machine if the solution does not work. Thanks

Richard

I don't know the answers to your problems but I am aware from other posts that not installing Vegas on your C Drive can cause issues.

My suggestion also is to only install the programs at C and give your Nvidia GPU the latest Studio drivers, i.c. version 471.11

Much appreciated. Should have gone to the forum immediately. Would have saved me hours of my time.
