Vegas Pro 18 problems extorting XML or Premiere Pro files!

yassera-s wrote on 12/12/2020, 10:29 AM

I finished editing in Vegas 18 and sent the project to post house for grading. They told me that exported XML (Resolve/Final Cut Pro) from Vegas open in Resolve but clips always fail to link. The same XML file also fail to import in Premiere pro. Also told me that Premiere crash when trying to open the exported Premiere project file from Vegas. For the record, the post house is using apple computer.

I tried the same in my windows computer and I am experiencing exactly same problems so something must be wrong with Vegas exported files! any idea?

Make sure its only cuts, slow motion & scaling on the VEGAS edit before export XML

Thanks but you also mentioned in the video that fades and crossfades will be ok, right?

@alifftudm95  I double checked my Vegas project and it contains some fades and crossfades but most other clips are straight cut. I even removed all fades and crossfades so the whole project is straight cut but same problem! The problem must be from Vegas 18 coz I am experiencing the same problem in 2 different computer and the post house experiencing same problem on their Mac computers

Are you using Vegas 18?

Yes, using VEGAS POST Suite, running on the latest update.

I have no luck for Resolve to import VEGAS XML, I convert VEGAS project into Premiere Pro project, re-export the XML from premiere so the colorist can import the timeline into resolves.

Some said Davinci is the one having a hard time to properly import XML, but I think its in VEGAS side, so many post house use XML and resolve link between adobe seamlessly, off course there will be time some footage failed to import but I have no luck with VEGAS to DR at all.

The only weird bug I see, DR only able to import MOV footage from VEGAS xml, if the footage contain MP4 or any Sony AVC-S video, it just prompt with an error missing media

@alifftudm95 but in the video you exported vegas project as XML format not as Premiere Pro project format and then you imported the XML file into Premiere Pro which did not also work for me!

It is most definitely a problem in Vegas not in Premiere or Resolve.
