Vegas Pro 18 runs out of memory when I try to render

Dopey_Dave wrote on 8/17/2020, 5:10 PM

I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 18 from 17. When I try to render a file, the product shows a modest amount of CPU and Memory usage, runs a bit then quickly spikes on memory usage, then displays a message the system is out of memory. I have a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU with 16 GB of RAM. Any ideas on how to get it to work would be appreciated.

Could be the memory leak with Vegas software. It's to do with the External GPU, so if you were to disable it when you rendered you would not get the memory leak. It's said to only happen with certain files. However that memory leak was also in VP17, so if you don't have the same problem in vp17 maybe it's something else

Thanks!! Would like to try. How do I turn off the External GPU. Is there a setting in the software?

Options/Preferences/VIdeo and turn off "gpu acceleration of video" and restart

Followed your instructions, and the file rendered. Thanks!

Turn GPU acceleration back on. Go into the help menu and use the driver update utility to make sure you have the right driver version installed for VEGAS. From there, set your dynamic RAM preview in the video tab of preferences to "0" just before rendering. You can have it set higher while editing, if you need DRAM Preview, but always set it back to 0 before rendering, that should fix your bug until the team can get it patched.

Turning off the GPU works, but you are losing a ton of performance by doing so.

I have the same issue, but unfortunately not only in rendering. If I use the DRAM for Playback, I get frame drops and vegas is crashing. So I cant use VP18. In VP17 I have no Problems. Unfortunately I dont get Amy answer from the Support since 2 weeks ...

When are they going to fix this? Seems like as they release new versions they stopped fixing the problems on the old one. I can't even run a render of any kind of a older project. I want to take advantage of the new features of something I am working on right now but i can't get it to render even without using the gps.

I guess back to 16 for now

You did not answer my other question, so look onto your desired driver for use in the newest Vegas software.
There you will find this one

Install this one as " a clean install" and you have the best and the latest as adviced by the program itself.
After doing that show here your Options/Preference/Video and Options/Preference/File I/O

Since you do have an older processor, if you have not done so, deactivate your Intel GPU as it could be causing a problem.
