Vegas Pro 19 (Build 636) crashes

Joey-Daddario wrote on 6/2/2022, 11:01 PM

I just updated to VP 19 (build 636) from the original release (I think it was 5xx). The program has frozen twice. One time un-recoverable. Not sure why this is happening. I'm thinking about uninstalling it and going back to the previous release which never crashed. Is this a good idea? Running on Windows 11.

Thanks, Joey

Just make sure you don't save over any projects using the new build, or you won't be able to open them in older builds. This usually is not the case with same-version build updates, but somethings had to be changed under the hood this time that made it necessary. Create backups of your projects before saving over any projects in this build... just in case.

If you like, we can try to help you get the new build working ok, or if we can't, we can at least make a note of your system configuration so we know that something about that is causing issues, and that will help the team squash whatever bug is causing this in the future.

First step I always recommend, update your GPU driver using the driver update utility in the VEGAS help menu.

If this fails to help, please let us know your system spec. if you can provide us screenshots of the video tab in preferences, the file i/o tab, and your project settings. Then download the app "mediainfo" and run it on the files that are in the project that is crashing, then paste the results of the report it generates here for us. Those things should give us all we need to know to help you.

Thank you both very much for your responses. Let me do a little digging and see what I come up with. I will get back to you. Joey

Last night I updated my GPU driver using the driver update utility in the VEGAS help menu as suggested by Fr0sty. No crashes/freezes. I'm not ready to close this issue nor call it resolved until I put more time into VP 19. Thank you all for the responses.
