Vegas Pro 19 Video Event Dialog Button Is Not Always Available

ItsMeRobert wrote on 8/23/2021, 2:44 PM

I realize that in Vegas 19 the button to display the Video Event FX dialog (i.e. Pan/Crop and effects) is now at the bottom of the timeline image instead of the top. That is fine. The problem is that the button is not always present but it was always present in Vegas 18.

In Vegas 18, when the video timeline would run off the right of the screen, the dialog button would always be visible and accessible on the right of the timeline (see the screen capture for Vegas 18),

In Vegas 19, the button is now only available at the end of the timeline for the video. So if the video runs off the side of the window, you have to either scroll the video to get the to the end of the video to make the button visible, or you have to zoom out to make the end of the video visible so you can click on the button.

Was this change intentional or an oversight? Can it be changed to work the way it worked in Vegas 18 so it is always visible at the end of the timeline?

I looked through the Options\Preferences but I did not find a setting that would make it work the old way.

It may sound like a tiny problem, but I actually use the button very frequently to crop my videos. The majority of my video requires custom cropping of the picture. Now I have to keep zooming in and out so I can get to the button.

If there is a way to make it work the old way, or if it could be fixed in the next release to always be present, that would be great.

Thank you,

Robert

@ItsMeRobert - Sorry, I can't repro:

This "missing button" behavior existed prior to us adding the headers in VP 15. When I put the headers in, I implemented them to behave as Grazie has demonstrated. We turned the headers off by default in VP 19, which exhibits the old disappearing act.

Good news is that I have changed the behavior so the buttons act in a consistent manner whether or not the headers are on...and the buttons will no longer scroll off the screen. This will be available in the first update.

You can move them back to the top of the clip as before, and then change the color to better see the buttons. With "purple", a couple of them are "invisible" and the only way to know they are there is from memory (mine isn't good) or moving the mouse pointer over them and see the name then.

Zooming in on a clip on the timeline, to where it exceeds the length of the Vegas window, the buttons are still visible on my computer. I have only "Head middle and tail" for video event thumbnails. Screenshot below is of a single clip with timeline zoomed to so the the clip on the timeline only is showing the middle of it.

Please let me know how you can move those button back to the top of the clip as before. I just upgraded to Vegas 19, and that drives me crazy. Googling for a solution just brought me here. Thanks!!
