Vegas Pro 19 will not start after crashing while creating I/O manager

Hi,

I already posted this in the Blackmagic Desing forum.

I tried everything. But really everything which I could come up with to make Vegas run again. nothing helped.

I am on a Windows 10 64bit machine.
I installed a BM Intensity Pro 4k card into my PC. Then I first started Davinci Resolve. After having selected ASIO in the Preferences and saved. I could not run Resolve anymore. It crashed while loading. With the help of the BM support and thoroughly uninstalling resolve and reinstalling it, Resolve is running again.

Meanwhile Vegas Pro would not run anymore and would crash while loading I/O manager.

I did a complete uninstall following magix recommended steps. Also deleting some registry keys. then I reinstalled it.

Did not run.

Then I found crash reports. The latest said sth about

File I/O Surrogate (not visible)

I googled it and found some threads:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/fileiosurrogate-exe--103532/

This thread is related to an older version of Vegas and seems cause some issues with Quicktime.

So it is suggested to rename the quicktime DLL in the plugin folder of Vegas - C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro [version number]\FileIOPlugins\qt7plug\qt7plug.dll. Nope will not change anything.

Well I followed all the steps, which would not help me either. Nor a factory reset by opening Vegas with CTRL+SHIFT.

And I certainly will not do a complete new OS windows installation, if Vegas has this bug.
Well I am glad, that Davinci is running. Even if I just started to use it, I find it pretty intuitive, more than Vegas.

However any help is still appreciated. Thank you all.
BTW Soundforge will not run either. Will crash while loading/creating I/O manager.

All the other apps (I have VEGAS POST 19) will run without issues.

Like Vegas Stream, Effects, Image.

Yup. No changes unfortunately.

I hope some Vegas developers will find this post. Because the issue

File I/O surrogate (not visible)

it is a known one. At least for older version of Vegas. But no older tip will fix it this time.

😒

Why not directly file a support request?

Why not directly file a support request?

Yeah, I am gonna do that. However I did not find immediately how to file a support request.
But now I did. Thanks.

So I found the issue and the solution. Vegas is not accepting or intervening with Source Connect audio driver.
Strange I have no issues with DavinciResolve, but only with Vegas.
So the issue will be resolved while uninstalling Source Connect and Vegas will run. However after reinstalling Source Connect Vegas crashes again. Well that is not sufficent.
I will contact Source Element and Vegas for further support. How is it possible that Vegas is bickering while DavinciResolve has no issues with this driver. In the end if there is no final solution I will stick to Resolve and Source connect. Then bye bye Vegas. 😉
