I just installed the new update and whenever i try to launch vegas pro, the loading screen pops up for a bit but then closes and nothing happens. Any ideas? I need to figure this out as vegas pro is what I use for work. All help is appreciated, thank you
Just adding same thing here, and I saw the comment elsewhere. Usually I don't install when something first comes out..really learned a lesson here, never trust again...
I just got this on my Vegas 20. Vegas starts, i see the initial popup and then it closes. I thought it might be a corrupt plugin, so I renamed all those folders but the result was the same.
I then thought, let me update to the latest Vegas 20 update 402 to see if that fixes it but the result is the same.
Weird its happening for different users with different versions !
Just installed the major upgrade following Vegas automatic update routine. Vegas Pro 20 cannot start anymore. The startup screen is displayed with "Initializing ..." type of messages, then the startup screen disappears and nothing else happens.
The following previously suggested "fixes" didn't change the startup behavior in any way:
- disconnect from Internet.
- hold "Ctrl-Shift" during startup will bring up a dialog confirming to Reset All Vegas Settings to Default values with an option to clear cached data. Did all that and the startup behavior did not change in any way.
Googled it and found similar startup issues have been going on and on for years for many previous versions.
Any fresh ideas how to make this VEGAS PRO thing work? There are projects are being on hold!!!
And how to make a WAKE UP CALL for the Dev/QA team to finally find actual reasons for this to happen and fix them.
I have two computers with the new update and the only way to start Vegas is by disconnecting internet. It was working fine for most of the day but all of a sudden it started happening after 8pm (EST)
I am having the same issue. No error message, get splash screen but when it says its done loading it just disappears. I did notice within task manager it says its error reporting before it goes, but I don't get any window. Tried reinstalling and deleting temp folders. Older versions of Vegas installed will work. The curious bit is it worked after I first updated it. I don't remember exactly how many times I was able to load up the program before it stopped working but it wasn't more than three. But reinstalling did not bring it back.
Similar problem here -- but mine shuts down after "initializing scripts".
I *did* use it after upgrading, but after rebooting I'm in this same pickle now.
Disabled network adapter -- same result. Unplugged network cable -- same result.
Installed build 370 -- no difference.. would not launch fully.
Then realized I had a 2nd "vEthernet" adapter (don't know what that is?!!).. disabled that as well as my regular one and build 370 launched OK. Re-installing latest build and may have to repeat.. OY!
UPDATE - okay just read about the internet thing. So I disabled internet by disabling the adapter card from within windows and I was able to start the program (without any restart from the last failure). Turned the adapter card back on after launch and seems to be working.

Same here, Vegas 19 wouldn't open, so I closed Vegas 20 to see if it as the same, little blue loading screen shows for a bit then goes away & no Vegas 19 or 20 loads 😒🤔
Edit - restarting Modem allowed Vegas to load while it was off rebooting, now the internet is back on I closed Vegas & it won't open again, so to open Vegas I have to turn off the internet!

Sounds like their authentication servers are down/broken. But it's a ridiculous thing to default to an action of shutting down the customers software when it doesn't receive the requested validation/license info. The assumption being it's an anti piracy measure but it's only affecting actual paid customers.
Turning my laptop to Airplane Mode enabled Vegas Pro 20 to open, but that didn't work on the desktop where I had to unplug the ethernet cable to get VP20 to open.
The thing is that if you close VP20, you'll need to disconnect from the internet again in order to open it again.
