Vegas Pro 21 Build 300 Adjustment Event error

PKBanana42 wrote on 4/23/2024, 12:05 PM

Splitting Adjustment Events makes anything under the second half of the event completely disappear.

Below I have an example of a Vegas Test Pattern, with a Adjustment Event on top making it black and white.

Splitting the Adjustment Event makes the Test Pattern disappear.

This is not a problem with just the Test Pattern, or just the Black & White filter, but splitting an Adjustment Event with ANYTHING on it (panning, masking, effects) will turn anything below the 2nd half of the Adjustment Event invisible.
(The 1st half of the Adjustment Event still works as intended.)

Changing the preview quality does not fix this, but saving the file and restarting Vegas makes the 2nd half of the adjustment event work as it is supposed to. Restarting Vegas even on a decent PC takes a while so doing it over and over again is not an option.

I would appreciate a comment from support or fellow users if they are also experiencing this same issue.

Setup:

  • Windows 11 Home 64-bit
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D 4.4 GHz 12-Core
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (Game Ready-driver 552.22)

Reinstalling did not work, but here's a temporary fix I hopefully don't have to use too long

  1. Copy-paste the 2nd half that doesn't work
    1. (Doing this to the original 2nd half doesn't work, so you can delete it)
  2. Go to the Pan/Crop settings (seen above)
  3. Open the preset dropdown menu
  4. Choose "Default"

The Pan/Crop is just a white emptiness without the [ F ]-preview so whatever's wrong with Vegas I suspect it's here. After changing it to "default" all of these values reset to 0 so you can't pan/crop it anymore, but atleast the effects show up on the preview.

Yes, anything under the split Adjustment event is not shown. Even moving the split Adjustment to another location over different clips, it's black.

You can adjust the length of the Adjustment Event and also copy/paste it if you want to use it somewhere else on the timeline. It is the split that is causing the issue.

OK so in the meanwhile you can also Uninstall Vegas Pro 21.0 and its deep learning models
(Windows 11 Settings -> Apps -> Installed apps) or (Control Panel -> Uninstall programs)

And then go to this article
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/
And scroll down until you see...

  • 7. DIRECT LINKS (including earlier patch releases)
    • VEGAS Pro Edit/Suite/Post 21
      • (Keep scrolling down)
      • VEGAS Pro Edit/Suite/Post 21 direct links to international versions etc....
        • VEGAS Pro 21.0.0.300 <- this is the current, broken version
        • VEGAS Pro 21.0.0.208 <- GET THIS ONE
        • VEGAS Pro 21.0.0.187
        • VEGAS Pro 21.0.0.108

So just click on 21.0.0.208, download and install it.
It's still Vegas 21, but just the December patch all your plugins etc. should work.

If you have already saved your current project file on the new 21.0.0.300 version, you can NOT open it on 21.0.0.208.
You can:

  1. Edit it and endure through this issue
  2. Downgrade to 21.0.0.208 and start it from scratch/previous version
  3. Wait until they update to 21.0.0.301 or something to fix this

We have a fix for this and it is scheduled to be part of the patch that we are working on.
