Vegas Pro 21 problem with VB-Audio Software named: Matrix Coconut.

Dear MAGIX/Vegas Support and Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a persistent issue I have encountered while using Vegas Pro in conjunction with the latest software from VB-AUDIO, specifically MATRIX COCONUT.

To provide context, I have been utilizing VB-AUDIO's tools, particularly Voicemeeter, without any issues. However, upon installing MATRIX COCONUT, which boasts numerous virtual ASIO interfaces, Vegas Pro consistently crashes. This issue seems to occur specifically when reaching the last ASIO interface, ASIO512.

Despite my efforts to resolve this matter, including extensive correspondence with your support team and the submission of numerous crash reports and supplementary materials, my ticket was closed prematurely. Unfortunately, due to pressing work commitments, I was unable to respond promptly, leading to the closure of the ticket.

In an effort to expedite resolution, I am reaching out to the community through this forum post. I have also communicated with another user on their DISCORD support server who is facing the same issue with the MATRIX Coconut version of the software. Interestingly, it appears that the problem is not present when using the MATRIX basic version, which features fewer ASIO virtual interfaces.

To aid in troubleshooting, I will be attaching a ZIP file containing crash reports and relevant screenshots for your reference.

Your prompt attention and assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Daniel F.

Vegas does not support sidechaining, instrument patches, or multiple ASIO I/O; sorry, I don't think it will work for you.

Vegas selects one audio device, which can be ASIO, from the Audio Device Menu. Vegas supports VST effects, but not instruments. Likewise, Vegas supports MIDI timecode and controllers, but not synth voices.

I was able to configure Voicemeeter Banana with Vegas to use as an external auto ducking tool, but that's about it. Be sure not to tie up Vegas' primary audio device at the same time you are using any VB audio software.

This is not about sidechaining or instrument patches, the MATRIX software is a virtual routing software with virtual ASIO, is like a BIG Brother to Voicemeeter. You can router different programs to different virtual ASIO interfaces and then re-route them to any physical or virtual output, so you can separate and have control on what is gonna sound, and where.

The MATRIX version has multiple virtual ASIO and the bigger one has 128 input/output channels. The bigger version MATRIX COCONUT has the biggest ASIO of 512 input/output channels.

The coconut version is the one that CRASHES all the MAGIX programs, VEGAS, ACID, etc. When I start the program and VEGAS list all the interfaces (Matrix 8, 64A, 64B, 128, 256, 512) it crashes when it reaches ASIO512.

With the smaller Matrix software that lists 8, 64A, 64B and the last 128 then continues to load, opens and you can use it an re-route the audio channels, etc. You can Audio channels on Vegas Pro send them to different BUSes and then assign each BUS to a specific ASIO output channel using the MATRIX software.

I attach some pictures now using the smaller MATRIX while playing and routing in conjunction with Voicemeeter Banana. To be more impressive, I installed Vegas Pro 21, Matrix (smaller one), and Voicemeeter Banana on a virtual machine in VMWare Workstation Pro 17.5.1, and that VM shares the sound card of my MAIN computer where I have a REAL ASIO SSL+2 audio interface. So on the VM all the sound and routing are done via SOFTWARE.

The Crashes are specific to MATRIX COCONUT the bigger version of both MATRIX. I tried it on my real bare-metal PC and then tested the same on a clean virtual machine. I'm not the only one, there is another user who has the same problem with VEGAS, ACID, etc. When using MATRIX COCONUT all the MAGIX programs crash for him too. He tried the basic MATRIX and work perfectly.

So there must be something inside VEGAS, ACID, etc that doesn't support more than 400-500 input/output ASIO channels. I tried a lot of competition software DAVINCI RESOLVE, Adobe Premiere, etc and they open without problem using MATRIX COCONUT.

VB-Audio Matrix - Smaller that works perfectly on Vegas, ACID, etc.

VB-Audio Matrix Coconut - Bigger that crashes when it list the last ASIO512 virtual interface on Vegas, Acid, etc.

I think you are in uncharted waters here; as 3rd party software, if there is a solution it will likely come from you or perhaps VB. Maybe @rraud has some guidance?

There is an Audio Subforum where you might get more focused advice.

Of the remaining audio guys here, my experience is mainly in live audio and post mixing; I figure out specific tasks in Voicemeeter and Cantabile when I need them, mostly for live streaming and mixing. I've never needed more than a couple of ASIO I/O, so your issue is above my pay scale.
