Vegas Pro 22 Bld 194 Events moving simultaneously on splitting video

Hello, I've been away from Vegas for a while. I last used VP Edit 19, I upgraded to VP 22 build 194 in the last few days.

This is purely for amateur home video purposes. Previously I preferred the Vegas Movie Studio products. Anyway, over the last 2 days, with 2 different projects, I've had issues where I split videos on the timeline, generally I perform multiple splits. What's happening is when I move the audio video events that are at the end of the timeline, I sometimes get events, that I have already placed earlier in the timeline, moving as well. Let me explain. I am shooting using 2 HD Canon camcorders in MP4 60p video. I import both videos, each to it's own event on the timeline. I use the top event for PIP and the bottom event for full screen. I align the videos so the audio synchs up to get more of a spatial effect. I then group all the events so they move simultaneously and I don't have to resynch again.

I do several splits of the video to remove unwanted footage and place transition and text events in between. Yesterday I spent three hours working on a video. When I got to the end of the video, I reviewed what I had done and to my surprise, Part of the video were missing and those pieces were overlapped with previous video in the timeline. It was a real mess and I couldn't decipher what was supposed to go where and I ended up just starting the project over from scratch.

I did another video tonight which i spent about another three hours piecing together. When I finished, I played the timeline and noticed some transitions were acting strange, so I reviewed the timeline, and saw that a piece of video was well beyond the end of what I put together, and again, one section had 2 videos laid on top of each other. This time was a bit easier, and I was able to fix it.

Why is moving one piece of the video also moving other pieces that I had split and reside elsewhere on the timeline? It's so frustrating. I don't recall having this issue with VP19 and earlier. Shouldn't splitting a video make each piece of that video it's own entity? It seems that some pieces are being locked to other pieces.

I'm using windows 11, I7 11700 processor 8 core, 16 logical processors, 64GB RAM, tons of SS Disk space, nVidia GTX 1650 4GB, and Vegas Edit 22 build 194.

Can you supply a screenshot of those problematic parts of the timeline? I edit all the time, slicing and dicing, moving and grouping, all types of transitions, and never any issues.

Hi. Unfortunately, I have fixed both of them. Should it happen again, I will post screenshots. thank you.

May I ask, do you group and then split without issues, or do you split, then group? I group before I split. Wasn't there an option to lock events to the timeline? Would that work?
