Vegas Pro 7, New Computer w/Vista & i7

Hi,
I just purchased a new computer that comes with Vista and the new i7 processor. I currently have Vegas Pro 7 on this one and was hoping to be able to keep it by just uninstalling/reinstalling on my new one (which I think will have the 64-bit processor?). Will Sony Vegas Pro, version 7 work on my new computer? I'm a bit worried because I have heard a few people say that they had to buy a new printer, software, etc., due to the 64 bit processor not being compatible with older programs being written for 32 bit.

"...due to the 64 bit processor not being compatible with older programs being written for 32 bit."

Hardly any 32 bit Windows code will not run on a 64 bit CPU. 64 bit AMD processors actually have two modes, 32 bit and 64 bit, so there is zero overhead. 64 bit Intel CPUs have a 32 bit emulation mode, but the loss in speed is negligible, when running 32 bit software.

However, you didn't say whether you are using 64 bit Vista or 32 bit Vista. That probably won't matter either and Vegas 7 should run okay under either OS. But keep in mind that Vegas 7 is two generations behind the times. There may be other reasons, why you may experience problems using it. Given that you just bought a whole new Core i7 PC, one would think that you could spare some cash ($234 US) to upgrade to version 9 of Vegas Pro. ;-)

Thanks for the info, jabloomf1230. I will be running Vista Home Premium which I believe is the 64 bit? And as far as being able to afford the upgrade to version 9, I'm pretty sure I will broke for awhile after buying this new computer, lol. :o)

My dad runs Vegas 6 on vista w/o little problems. He has issues ripping CD's, but we're not sure if that's a vegas or vista issue.
