Vegas Pro 8.0c AND 8.1 --- Assert Failed?

lilewis wrote on 8/9/2009, 6:03 AM
I'm using a Dell XPS M1530, Vista 64 bit laptop.

When closing Vegas either version I now get a message box with the following:

ASSERT Failed
Executable vegas80exe (or 8.1exe) Pid c6c Tid e5c Module CamExt40V32.ax, 1
objects left active!
At line 320 of F:\dev64\dsdll\dllentry.cpp
Continue? (Cancel to debug)

I had a drive F at one time, but it is no longer attached to the laptop, but I got this message even when F was attached.

It's annoying and disconcerting at the same time to get this message every time I close Vegas.

I can find no record of an error message like this anywhere - Does anyone here know how to fix this problem?

I've never seen a message like this myself (even though I use external devices with my laptop as well). I'd suspect you must have set some directory, residing on the F: drive when you had it attached, in the Preferences or Project Settings (the latter probably with "Use this setting with all new projects").

I just checked and found F to be one of the options under the capture preferences for both programs, but deleting F from there didn't help.

I'm beginning to suspect it's a registry error that I'm going to have to learn to live with.

that's a file that was used during compile, nothing to do with your computer. From the looks of it SCS has a separate build file structure for 64-bit, so I don't know why that would pop up in 32-bit vegas, unless it's something shared between them. IE a plugin.

I just opened and then closed Vegas without doing anything else. Error message still pops up.

This is something new. I've run both programs often over the last yr or so with no glitches until now.

ASSERT Failed

This message is caused by "CamExt40V32.ax". It appears this is something from Philips.

This is a message produced by code not having something one way that it expects. The reference to F:\dev64.... is from a build envioronment that is not part of ours.

I would determine what install this file, and contact them to see if there is an update or what specifically the message about dllentry.cpp means.

Ahhhhh.. I'm sure you've ID'd the problem.
I recently installed a Phillips webcam.
Now I know where to go for a fix (hopefully)
Thank you!!!!

Just spoke with Philips tech.... they insist it's a Sony problem since the message only appears when closing Sony Vegas Pro.

Tried to explain that it's a an error message relating to Philips and only started after installing the Philips webcam but the guy wouldn't listen - kept insisting it's a Sony problem

Bottom line.. the message only appears when closing Vegas and doesn't interfere with anything else so I guess I'll just have to live with it.
