Vegas Pro 8.1 conversion missing MTS audio stream

I created a project using Vegas Pro 8.0c on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit system. Everything worked fine, but I was interested in moving to v8.1 to take advantage of my 64-bit OS. What I find, however, is that when I launch the project, I receive the following error:

===============================================
Warning: An error occurred while loading the project file filename.veg.
The proper stream could not be found in the media file.

Media file C:\Folder\file.MTS has changed enough that the media stream properties from the project file could not be applied. Default media stream properties were used.
===============================================

I get this error for all 5 of the media files in this project and while the video works perfectly, the audio is missing. I also have some mp3's in this project, which don't have this issue. It's just the audio in the MTS file that seems to be having an problems with this import. Has anyone run into this type of corruption?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I uninstalled Vegas Pro 8.1 and reinstalled Vegas Pro 8.0c on my system and the .veg file loads properly. So the Pro 8.1 software is having problems with something in the .veg file, or I suppose it could be an issue with between Pro 8.1 and the .MTS file that .veg is working with.

FYI, I just finished speaking with Sony about this matter and was told that I should be bringing in video files as m2ts files, instead of MTS files (which is the Canon file format). They believed that this is the issue rather than it being a bug with Vegas Pro 8.1.
