Vegas Pro 8 and EDL Convert Pro

I recently tried to export an edit from Vegas Pro 8 using the scripts supplied with EDL Covert Pro only to be presented with an error message. The result is that I can't export the material at all.

I have the most recent version of EDL Convert and Vegas 8.

My enquiries to Cui Bonosoft received a reply indicating that the problem was in the way scripts are now implemented in Vegas Pro 8 and they were waiting on Sony to send them a copy so that they could produce an updated version of their script.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Yes, it's a bit hit and miss due to some incompatibilities even within Vegas and it's own EDL export. I've used Vegas' text EDL to EDL Convert Pro, then to OMF and that worked the best.

Fyi, you can not have stereo and mono audio clips on the same track, or Vegas' EDL will drop clips and leave the remainder out of sync when you go to OMF, AAF, AES, etc - so keep audio file types consistent on a given track. There were a few other issues with Vegas' export as well, but I'll have to check back in later with those.

It's a BIG backwards step to have to revert to using the text EDL export.

I was happily using the XML script export, that comes with EDL Convert, with Vegas 7.

It didn't have the stereo/mono constraints with OMF etc and offered the addition of volume levels as well as media.

Can someone at Sony expedite getting a copy of Vegas Pro 8 to Cui Bobosoft so that the scripting issue can be fixed?

... I almost wonder if Vegas xml is broken since it isn't listed. And of course text export is pretty barebones in what is transferred.

I am thinking the problem is with Vegas. Word from Sony would be helpful though. I think I emailed support about this a few months ago, but haven't heard back.
