Vegas Pro 8 - edit question

Hi, am new to Vegas Pro and am used to Pinnacle Studio.

Q1:
In Pinnacle if you drag and drop a clip onto the time line it automatically inserts it in between the existing clips.
In Vegas it seems to place the clip on top of the existing one.
Eg.
I have 3 clips on the timeline, let's call them A B & C
I have a new clip (D) which I want to drop into the time line between A & B.
How do I do this?

Q2:
In Pinnacle if you delete a clip from the timeline the gap is closed and everything after that clip moves to the left and fills the gap.
How does it work in Vegas? If I delete a clip there is an empty space.
Eg If I I have 3 clips on the timeline A, B & C.
I delete B and want C to fill the gap and become adjacent to A.

Thanks!

Turn on auto-ripple. It's the icon that looks like blue & green rectangles with an arrow above them, or press Ctrl+L.

There are a lot more knowledgeable people than me but here's what I do.

Q1.... grab the right side event, right click and do 'select all events to end'. Then slide this to the right with enough space to insert the new one. You may also want to "group" the events so other tracks move with it. Probably a short cut for this.

Q2... there is an 'auto ripple' button up top, click that and when you delete, the material to the right should close. Again, not sure if you need to group or can select all the tracks for the ripple to work on.

Good luck & welcome aboard. This is a great forum with a lot of talented people who can help you. They have me.

Thanks to both of you. Autoripple did the trick!
/ Migrating from Pinnacle Studio 10 to Vegas Pro is like going from kindergarten to university but it's gonna be a lot of fun exploring what it has to offer!
