I have Vegas 4 vorkshop. Is Vegas Pro 8 editing workshop just an updated version from earlyer editions or is it a different book which is totally rewriten?

Why can't I use the "L" sign for GBP, it come out as < £ >
The book is almost entirely re-written. We also had a real, honest to goodness Vegas user tech editing AND copy editing the book instead of a Mac-head who didn't know right from single mouse clicks. Obviously, some segments of the book will be similar, although almost all screenshots are new, and there is a lot of new information as well. We stripped out 6 chapters entirely from the Vegas 6 version, and replaced them.
David McKnight probably has the best "outside" view, as he worked extensively on proofing, checking, etc the new book. If it wasn't for David and his wife, the book would not have seen the light of day.

Because of the reviews of your last book, I will wait to read some reviews of your upcoming book before I order.
Can't say I blame you.
Between the guy that says "This book is way too technical" and the review that says "this book is way too simple," it's confusing. Add to that the bad copy edit that has at least 22 errors we found in the 500 page book...I'm embarrassed for myself.
Having closely read the V6 book, some of the old manuscripts, and the new manuscripts, it became very clear to me that the older book got mangled by an OCR process somewhere. I'm not saying someone at the prev. publisher didn't do their job...or maybe I am. For example, on page 259 of the V6 book near the bottom, it reads "...to maitai th sutai ofa plucked..." that, and another one I saw repeatedly was hght instead of light - those are classic examples of OCR errors. I admire Douglas for taking responsibility for these errors when they clearly happened after the manuscripts were turned in.
Now, I haven't seen the finished V8 book yet either, so hopefully all that we eradicated will stay...eradicated!
It always seemed to me that some of those Amazon reviews were purposely mean spirited or at the very least, exaggerated. I thought there were much more accurate reviews on this forum. Somebody here said they found the typos "annoying" and that was about it. And I would agree. For me (looooooong before I had anything to do with this book, for whatever that's worth) those annoyances did not get in the way of learning the material one bit. But, everyone's entitled to their opinion.
