I'm posting again because of a seeming lack of interest from Sony regarding obvious problems that Vegas Pro 8a has with Quad Core computers. Many many many Quad Core XP Vegas Pro 8a users are having major crashes and render problems with Quad Core computers!!
Many forums have posts from users experiencing continuous day to day crashes and render problems with Vegas on their Quad Core boxes.
I have tested my project in Vegas Pro 8a on another independent Quad Core box with a different motherboard and the results are the same ... major instability.
I have found that the only way to get some stability is to turn off the secondary cores in BIOS ... reduce the number of threads in Vegas etc etc etc ... effectively turning my Quad into a castrated Dual Core box just to keep my client vaguely happy that we're making progress.
I need total stability on my Quad Core and I need it now. I can't go back to 7 because my project is too large and too developed to return to 7 ... but even users of Vegas 7 over their Quad Cores are reporting exception errors. Check the Creative Cow and have a look.
Douglas from VASST ... are you aware of any work being done to fix Pro 8a??
I have stayed up until 2am here in Sydney Australia and called Sony Media Software in the US requesting help ... NOTHING IS BEING DONE AS FAR AS I CAN TELL.
WE NEED HELP.
NOW!
