That's bizarre. Does Windows Reliability History offer any hints as to what crashed?

Could the fact that vegas 22 is still loaded be the problem? I can’t be the only one having this problem. When I try to open a past project or even drop a video file onto the time line the entire program shortly there after simply disappears as though it was never loaded.

No, VEGAS versions can coexist side by side.

Do you see other reports of this problem?

Please type reliability history in the windows search box and look for red critical errors.

Yes. There is a YouTube post where he had the same problem before he could demonstrate it. Seems he just loaded a picture to continue but I don’t think he could ever open an existing project. He said he would continue to usr version 22 as I plan on doing. Not the first 149 dollars I have lost nor will it be the last. Maybe an update will come along soon but I can’t spend another day trying to figure it out. Graphic card has latest driver too.

That doesn't help narrow it down at all. You really can't type in reliability history?

Please contact support as they might have better diagnostic tools, this is a peer to peer forum.

@john-holland An update won't come along until the problem can be identified. Unfortunately that requires users who run into the problem providing info to help identify the cause. It may not even be a Vegas problem as GPU driver updates are not unknown for having bugs.

Ok. I got it working. Here is my theory. I would open vegas23. It would take a photo on timeline. Next I was attempting to drop a Sony FX6 file and it would crash. I opened the program and loaded a photo, then some regular video files from another camera. A window opened and said something about loading a “codex or something “. Then I returned to the FX6 files and fortunately it loaded and didn’t crash. Everything is now functioning as it should.

The Vegas23 crashes when I load a MXF files produced produced by the Sony FX6 and A74.

Activating a codec for the first time is normal and necessary behavior, so glad you solved that by letting it access the internet.

What's in the MXF? MXF from a FS7 works here. (AVC, LPCM). Feel free to share a sample of one that doesn't work. I'm using NVIDIA GPUs, what about you?
