If you're working with different Preferences from one project to another, it's quite long to set all your preferences.
For exemple, switching from a soundcard to another is more complex than just selecting the Asio driver because you always have to also redefine the inputs and outputs (Lfe, surround channels... or Mic one to input 1...)
Vegas does not store Preferences in a pref file, but in the registry (it's a file too, but you access it via the regedit.exe program):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sony Creative Software/Vegas Pro/10.0/Metrics/Application

You cannot really know what does what (see above picture)
Preferences are not stored in your project.
So here is what I did .
1 Set my Vegas Preferences to my Creative Asio, and close Vegas.
2 Run regedit and search the above keys.
3 Right clic on the Application folder and export it on my desktop ( I named it Vegas Creative.reg)
4 Close regedit
5 Start Vegas pro and change settings in Vegas preferences - for my Tascam Asio usb device
6 Close Vegas
7 Run regedit and search the above keys.
8 Right clic on the Application folder and export it on my desktop ( I named it Vegas Tascam.reg)
Note 1 : it's not necessary to close regedit, if you remember to update the window (F5)
Now, changing my Vegas configuration is very fast : I choose the reg file I need, double clic it, say yes , Start Vegas Pro.
If you do not feel comfortable with the registry, do not use it !
Note 2 : I uninstalled Vegas 12, but all the 12.0 keys are still present in the registry (see picture below)
