Vegas Pro Fails import While Movie Studio Trail Works?

Quick video of what I experience with Vegas pro daily with any large imports. The folder Im importing contains 27 gigs of assorted x264 media. You can see when I hit ctrl+a vegas pro wont let me even hit open until the hard drive is done "reading all the files" indicated by disk use; and once it does it freezes. Same result for me on vegas 17. What is puzzling me; is the trail of movie studio works as intended with almost no lag during the same exact import.

i7 7700k @ 5ghz

16gb ram

gtx 1080

As well your VMS trial is only the Basic Version, not Platinum.

Maybe a difference in settings somewhere?

Or maybe different plugins being used to decode the files?

Sure enough; downloaded a trail of Platinum. And the crashes are back: just like vegas pro. 😰
