Is it the same problem being discussed in this thread?

Yes.
In XP the error comes across as "can't read memory at xxxxxxxxxxxx"
and in vista 64 it just says "Program stopped working"

I have yet to see it cause any serious problem... but it is a pain every time you close the program.

It's a good thing the upgrade price is reasonable, considering Sony is doing more and more of their beta testing post-release.

Apparently you have never been involved in writing a piece of complicated software. There are just some things that don't get caught in beta testing that show up in wide release. This is true of ANY piece of software or operating system for that matter.

For the last several Vegas releases, an updated "bug squash" build shows up a week or two after release. I have no reason to believe that this won't happen with this release as well. I have already sent the folks in Madison a couple of bug reports.

I've always viewed the discounted upgrade price as an invitation to be a beta tester. One thing that's changed though, the bugs used to get fixed, for free. And it was the SoFo bods themselves here, interacting with the users trying to nut out the problems.

John, right on the money. I was a programmer at Goodyear for almost six years on special projects. All new stuff. It is not easy and yet it was simple as compared to today because everything was distributed on the same platform. If you are running Vista 64 bit you are already beta testing! Vegas has little to do with it!!!

Why does every one have to get so personal about this???

Vegas is a great program... people wouldn't be using it otherwise. But there are bugs which need to be aired and taken care of... big deal. If the bugs are not aired, then they can't be taken care of.... and when you run into a bug that slows the work down... it's a piss off.... again... big deal. Or at least.... WHY make it into a big deal!?

I agree wholeheartedly about some things not getting caught in the Beta stage, however, THIS particular issue is pretty obvious..considering testers would be closing the app... to a point where i believe ANY tester experiencing this issue would see this error like a slap in the face..
Like i said I agree with you, but there are some things which make me wonder..

" This is true of ANY piece of software or operating system for that matter."

Agreed.. and what Sony shodl be doing is responding to the post and ASKING how many other users are experiencing this same problem. There could be none, there could be 100, there could be a thousand.. who knows..
