Vegas pro suite issues with R9 200 graphics card?

Vegas user wrote on 10/15/2014, 2:55 AM
I have been using Vegas pro 11 with few issues but just bought a new custom PC and upgraded to Vegas Pro 13 suite. I have having lots of "Vegas has stopped working issues" and crashes if I try and burn a DVD from the timeline (so far rendering on its own is ok). Its pretty much unusable to work on professionally. Sony email tech support suggested removing the new blue plugs in which came with the software and also updating the graphics card driver (as a.dll code in some dats they asked me to send over referred to a graphics card issue) . The card I am using is a R9 270x 4gb gdd r5. Does anyone know Is there some compatibilty issues with this card and Vegas ? I spoke with tech support once and the guy said they have had some but then asked me to try the driver update. since then (2 days ago) they have not replied to any messages via tech support. I am trying to find out if the card is the problem what is the best graphics card to use with Vegas Pro 13 so I can change it. The full spec of my pc is below. I appreicate any help ! Thanks

A) Welcome to the forum!
B) Please stick to one thread for the same topic.
C) Please fill in your system spec and make it visible to the forum for future reference.

One thing I can see from spec that seems a bit out is the 600W power supply. I would consider it on the edge and opt for a 850W or bigger one. As for the card, I don't have a 270x but a R9 290 which is much better suited for editing with GPU support.

Have you tried working with GPU acceleration switched off?

Thank you very much for your feedback. I take on board your comments about the Power supply and the R 290 card. I do need a reliable system so if these will both help that I will definately upgrade both. Is your system relaible with the 290 card (ie no vegas has stopped working issues?). I have not tried turning off the GPU acceleration off. I didn't know you could ! Firstly what effect does this have on overall performance ? Is it something a lot of Vegas 13 users do / is it something that is recommend and if so I do I do it ? Many thanks again

also I have an additonal question , I see there are two R9 290's available , the R9 290 & R9 290 X ? which do you recommend.

Thanks

Click on my name and see my system spec. These has been working awesome for me. Never, never ever,, I means ever I have had a rendering crash on my 290x overclocked 1200/1500 along with my highly overclocked CPU. If your looking for Vegas timeline performance and fastest rendering with GPU acceleration. Looking no further, 290/290X is your friend. The choice is up to you. You can do a search under my name, you will see I have post up many tests in this regards, HD6970/290/290X is the GPU choice for Vegas for under $600.

BruceUSA: Do you have any issues with heating or the card fan being loud?

I have an R7770 that caused instability with VP12. Since I'm really only concerned with real time preview I pulled and just just the GPU in my 4770k. It is as fast as a discrete video card? No. It is a ton faster than no GPU? Hell yeah. I can preview just about anything I do real time at half res or better, which for me is enough. It is totally stable. Yes.

Julius,

I am on a full body water block for both 290X. I have no GPU fans. In benchmarking it never get pass 51c (100% load) General usage temp is at around 42C. 290 or 290x both perform the same in Vegas. I chose 290X for other stuffs, so it is not just for Vegas.
