Vegas problem - hanging

I have a GoPro Hero surfing camera. When I try to open the files with Vegas 9.0c 64-bit it hangs on building peaks. I used GSpot to identify the codec used.

avc1, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

Container
avc1: MP4 Base w/ AVC ext[ISO 14496-12:2005 - iisom:MP4 Base Media v1

audio is mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC

Does anyone have an idea? I tried rolling back my quicktime player to 7.6 just in case that was the problem but it did not work.

Thanks

I have found that Vegas will import a 2 minute duration file but not the 37 minute file I would like to use.

During the process of looking for a freeware MP4 app that would cut up the file I realized that I am frustrated with Vegas Pro. Shouldn't the expensive video editing software I purchased handle a 37 minute clip?

i'm amazed that people expect a pro application to open EVERYTHING out there, come rain or shine.

professionals DON'T usually work with every format out there, and when required to do so, encode material to a more robust editing format.

i understand your frustration, but there's usually a work around. i have no experience of the format you're having problems with, but whenever i have any 'obscure' format to work with, or avchd that needs serious work, i encode to .mxf. problem solved
