Vegas Program Crashes

I have been using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum for about 10 months with no problems. Recently, the editor stops either in editiing, playback, or when making a movie. A window pops up with the message, 'VegasMovieStudioPE60.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close....' This video has music, photos, video, transitions, and titles. It is about 11 minutes long, and I have made a longer video like this one. Also, I made a much shorter video and while making a movie it only created about two thirds of the video. I have a Pentium 4 processor 3 Ghz, and 1.5 GB of RAM.
Any ideas? My first thought was to uninstall, and reinstall the software.

Thanks.

Mike

This could be due to any number of things - but all of them pretty much have to do with the health of your computer. I would suggest - if you're running in a Windows environment that you run scandisk on your drive to check for errors, then defrag the drive -- then reinstall vegas movie studio right over the top of your current installation (if it will let you do that) to ensure that none of the files are corrupt.

The fact that it was running perfectly for so long - and now does not begs the question, what has changed recently? There may be another program you installed that is causing this - or quite simply your hard drive needs a little love :)

I did a defrag a couple of days ago then yesterday checked the disc. Next I reinstalled the software and the problem was fixed. Now back to editing.
