Vegas/Red problem

RichR wrote on 6/9/2004, 1:51 PM
If I apply Red to a 5 second clip in Vegas and then render that clip in Vegas it will render a 5 second clip but only half of the clip will be the Boris effect and half will be black.
For instance, if it is a picture fly-in that takes place over a 5 second period, in the final render, that 5 second effect will happen in 2.5 seconds and the remaining 2.5 seconds will be black. When I scrub through the clip in the Vegas timeline, it will take place over a 5 second period, as it should.
It seems like a field vs frame problem, but I can't seem to find the solution. I hope someone can.
I hope this is clear enough to understand.

I should add that this happens to any length clip not just a 5 second clip. The final render is always, half Red effect and half black.

I had a similar problem with Boris FX. My problem resulted from user error. The duration in FX was set to only half of the transition time. When using as a plug in for Vegas the duration is not automatically updated to that of the effect on the timeline.

You might want to check this.

Yeah, I know to make the duration the same. Are you not having this problem?

Can anyone confirm that this combo works under Win XP and that the problem has to do with Win 2000 pro?
I tried this on my home xp machine and it works. I have two win 2000 machines at my studio and I have the render problem there.

It happened to me.

You can also see the effect if you place the cursor on the second half of the clip and change preview to best/full or good/full.

My workaround, changed the preview to best/full and then open RED and update from RED. In my case it solved the problem.
