Vegas "Restored" veg not up to date

My computer locked up during a fairly complex render, and I had to reset/reboot.

When I went to re-open the project, a pop up advised me that the last project had not closed correctly, but Vegas had saved the project under a name something like "00000013.restored.veg" and that I should Save as immediately under a new name to preserve the data.

The trouble was, the restored project was not the most recent version of my project, and in fact when I re-opened my previous project, this WAS the most recent, as I had saved it prior to rendering.

It may well be that the exact time that the restored project was last auto-saved depended on my settings, but it seems a waste of time and misleading to tell me that this had been saved to help me, when I had a more recent version I had saved myself. In fact, if I had chosen to save this restored project as the last named version, then the out-of date version would have replaced my more recent one.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh yes . .oh yes . . total PITA.

These veggies, of course, CAN be saved in different places - mostly they will be.

I have a project folder which is NOT the same as the Vegas backup and "crash" folder. So I guess number and sequential numbering of veggies can be a tiresome thing for Vegas to sort out. Then I have another - an Excalibur Emergency Folder - again!

But yes Pete, I've now kinda lived with this as potentially ALWAYS happening for me. I thought it was me being contrary with the software. Now and for the past 10 months, I've even LOST my notification option - which you still have. But there again I know where to look.

Yup, I get the last save, which isn't, too.

Well put Grazie - I've had this happen a few times, and each time I've wondered if I was, as you put it, "being contrary with the software".

... just remembered, Excalibur has an auto save function where you can specify where and how often - I've never used it, but I will now.

Wouldn't it be good if you could use Excalibur for life generally?

LOL!!

Like a script? Be a bit like "Ground Hog Day" - Sometimes, often, I just gotta let it go .. let it goooo...

Mind you, I really like to get a reminder just where the %$££"!^%7889' I leave my car keys? Yeah?
