I'm sure there are numerous opinions on the best files for Vegas. I'd say MXF.

For 8-bit: MagicYUV

For 10-bit: XAVC-Intra or cineform.

What will you use to downscale?

I'd say MXF XDCAM and MP4 XDCAM EX (as this is same compression as Vegas Pro uses for its internal proxy files).

rendering it down in RESOLVE from 8k to HD, just to use in Vegas - because I know Vegas. Wanted to go at 4K, but this project is taking too much time already and I just want to get it done.

Well, you can't use Magic YUV then - resolve won't do that. I think the paid version does XAVC-I and/or XDCAM but you will need to test it. Cineform works for sure.
