Vegas session crashes after capture...

Hello,

In vegas 6.0 (Build 99) I can't seem to capture a video from my firewire card without it crashing! Every time I try it I get the following error:

An error occurred during the current operation. An Exception has occurred.

And when I go into the detials there is a whole lot of stuff that doesn't make any sense to me. I have forwarded this to Sony's tech support, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and figured out what it was?

Thanks

I think I figured out the problem...

When I deselect the "add captured clips to media pool" vegas doesn't crash.

I have to add the clips captured manually instead, has anyone else noticed this bug?

I have the same problem with V6. I'll try your suggestion but in the meantime I went back to using 5 to capture.

Where do you find the "add captured clips to media pool" option?

It shows up after you hit stop while capturing.

There is an option to disable the auto pop up so maybe you have to re-enable it before you can get to this selection.

I've had the Vegas v6 capture utility lock up after a capture. There was no error message, just a lockup which can be gotten out of by getting into the task Manager and ending the program. The files captured fine however.

I noticed one other issue with the capture utility. In the Advanced capture mode, I was getting some footage off a PD150 and was marking in and out points for the capture. The device control worked fine except when I would pause the machine and try to use the single frame advance, I could use the "jog slider" to move in either direction, but when I tried to go backwards, Vegas would go back a few frames and then it would stop. The frame advance buttons would then "gray out" and would no longer work. I had to use the "jog slider" to find my capture in and out points. This happened on the PD150. I also tried another MiniDV cam and even a Digital8 camcorder and they all did the same thing.

Apparently for now you just need to turn on Media Manager before you try to capture.

See This Thread : "V6 Vidcap crash when clip logging?"

Good luck !

Ray,

Yes, turnning Media Manager back on cured the problem. It didn't, however, have any effect on the "frame advance" issue when controlling a deck or camcorder using VidCap v6.

Numerous others have had the same issue. It's a workaround but I now run vidcap alone - w/o Vegas. Then open Vegas and import the files into the media pool.
