I wanted to followup with my post yesterday with my 1394 devices(camcorder and a/dcanopus (ADVC-100) not being able to be detected by Vegas. The xp windows movie maker sees the devices just fine, and capture using that and import to Vegas for editing. II did what Spot said and disabled 1394 on the network and that didnt help. The TI OHCI compliant 1394 card installed by Dell is also using the microsoft driver which was recommended. I went to the Microsoft page and no updates on the driver (although it is a 1991 driver). The XP movie Maker works fine but I would rather capture in Vegas. I have the 4.0D Vegas loaded. Im pretty sure I saw my son capture in Vegas 4.0c about 3 months ago with the same set up before I downloaded the update. Any suggestions ?? anyone having a similar problem?? JOHN

Can't help much I'm afraid. I know that the ADVC-100 was supposed to have problems with certain TI chipsets. They did stress on their site that TI make an awful lot of chipsets & the problems only occured on a very small number of these (tending to be older ones).

I'm assuming you've tried updated drivers by now; but have you tried chipset drivers for your motherboard?? I've got an Asus board, and I frequently check for the VIA 4-in-1 driver package.

Hmm, if it works in WMovieMaker, it should work in Vegas. I know these suggestions are lame, but try:

. checking that your project properties exactly match your DV camcorder's (maybe you accidentally changed your preset?)
. re-installing Vegas?

Sorry, that's all I can think of. Whenever I have any firewire issues with Vegas, I have the same issues in WMovieMaker, once I fix the problem it fixes it in both. Sorry I can't be more help, all the best!

Sorry but I can't help either. FWIW, I have a 6-month old Dell precision 450 with Dell-installed OHCI 1394 running XP Pro and Vegas 4.0d. Never had a problem capturing or driving an external monitor using both Canon and Panasonic DV camcorders. Are you sure you have the Vegas Video Device Tab configured properly?

Someone awhile ago had a problem with movie maker taking control over the Vegas capture. Since movie maker is useless blow it out and then see if Vegas capture will work. Then you might have to re-install Vegas.

Nothing wrong with Movie Maker and Vegas. I have JVC and had some problems to connect, but overcome it. In capture mode make shure that the video device is marked.Make shure to turn on the device before you start Vegas.Under Video you should see the dvices connected. Turning off and on while Vegas running will not help. If Movie Maker can see it - Vegas will too.
