Vegas stretching my pics!

Hi newbie here:

While working my slideshow, I've noticed that all my photos are getting stretched to 16:9. I've tried looking for it in the help section but can't find how to leave my photos in a their normal or native aspect ratio and fitting them into the 16:9 frame.

Any help would be appreciated. I just don't want my photos to be 'stretched' for lack of a better word

I think this is what's happening. If your project settings define 16:9 then Vegas automatically applies a Pan/Crop to each non-16:9 event imported to the timeline. Look for the Pan/Crop icon at the right hand side of your photos. If it's blue instead of white that's what is happening. To correct this click the Pan/Crop icon and in the Preset drop down box select Default.
That should cure your problem. To apply the fix to all your clips right click the clip that you've just fixed and select copy. Select the rest of the clips then right click on one of them and select Paste Event Attributes.

Jack,

Thanks for the tip. Just learned something new. It didn't fix my problem though. I have a few photos that are almost square...1440x1080. They came out of the camera that way. I followed your instructions and the faces still look like they were put through a cookie roller. Any other suggestions?
