i have searched forums for days and still can not find a step by step way to "render as" from the timeline to preferred settgins for upload to youtube: Can somebody please explain this for me..im using Pro8 the latest build (217).
They want MPEG4, MP3 audio ,30 Frames, 640x 480, 4:3, deinterlace.

My source material is SD dv. 16:9 PAL...

its driving me insane..surely there has to be a way..im just missing it.
Ive tried to render as an avi , as one post suggested, but there is no way to select the Divx codec..under my avi options

Should i have a Divx or Xvid codec in my options...?

My Procoder 3 wont do it either....

BTW the sony forums are incredibly slow...ive looked on Cow forums as well....

You want to render to either of Sony's mp4 templates.
Main Concept or Sony AVC/AAC mp4.

This is as great forum - probably the best recipes you'll find on encoding for YouTube.

If you're wanting to render to mpg4 - try the MainConcept AVC/AAC mp4 template and work from there.

Other than that, you'll wanna keep searching here. I know forums are deathly slow, but if you're patient, you'll find some really good methods.

I don't know, but I've always rendered to Quicktime and then upload those to YouTube -- seems fine to me.

I've always used Windows Media 9 .WMV files at either 320x240 or sometimes 640x480. I usually upload stuff between 5 and 10 minutes long. Since YouTube has a 100 meg filesize upload limiit, I encode the files at whatever bitrate gets me close to 100 meg at 192kbps for the audio. Sometimes this results in a very high bitrate .WMV, but what the heck, if the limit is 100 meg, then I want to upload the highest quality video before they decimate it into a 256kbps 320x240 Flash .FLV file. So far, the stuff I have uploaded looks quite good.

I've always used WMV, too. This link will give some settings you can try.

Video Key Frame Every: 45 Frames
Video Codec: Sorenson Spark Pro
Video Data Rate: 680 Kbps

Audio Codec: Frauhoffer MP3

Total Data Rate: 805 Kbps
YouTube's preferred Encoding Format: Flash FLV (Sorenson 2-Pass VBR)
