off the top of my head (don't know if it'll work but...)
i would try to firewire it back to dv tape then, hook that into the recorder.
not even sure if this is possible, but that's where i'd start.

In Vegas, how would I export my large avi back to dv tape? Is there a way from vegas to export from timeline to DV tape? If so, then I can try to export it to my DVD recorder, in theory!

As long as your camcorder and computer have firewire ports on them, look up "Print to Tape" in the Help menu.
I still don't think you'll be able to do it though as my understanding of standalone DVD recorders is that the firewire port is one way only :-(
I have one at home as well but I've never gotten around to trying this feature.

It can work, but it depend of your recorder. My old Philips worked this way. I used it at time as a D/A converter via firewire to preview my work, or to just dump a timeline work on DVD (with print to tape tool) for non critical client preview.

But it never worked this way with my newer Liteon...

If the DVD recorder has analog inputs you could just Print to Tape through the camera into the DVD recorder.
