Vegas to Encore

i am going to use Encore because of its ability to render out BluRay + DVD + Flash

if anyone has been doing this pls advise

1.

I assume I will render my mixed media 1920X1080 60i project out of Vegas using:

Blu-ray 1920x1080-60i, 25 Mbps video stream

and then when I render DVD or Flash out of Encore, Encore will down-rez..

correct?

OK according to this:

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/encore/cs/using/WSbaf9cd7d26a2eabfe807401038582db29-7fb4a.html

if i want more flexible chapter marker placement in Encore I should let encore transcode.

and i will need more flexible chapter marker placement...so does anyone know the best Vegas render settings if i am going to let Encore transcode??

im using vegas and need to set - flexible - chapter points in encore, so my understanding is i have render a non-compliant file and use "Transcoding in Encore" in order to set those chapter markers where i want.

is there some format that would be best for this?

i am hoping i can come up with a workflow that lets me

1. render once from vegas

2. set chapter markers in encore

3. transcode / build in encore in flash - dvd - bluray.

avi? h264? mpeg?

update: ok so i successfully rendered out an avi from vegas which then let me set chapter markers anywhere i wanted to in encore. but the avi bogs down encore and i suspect its not the best format to use as my intermediary. as well, I tried a Sony AVC render and the quality was not good.

anyone know what format is best for this?

As I've mentioned before, the absolutely safest way to get from A to B is with sequential *.tif files. If you have Encore, you probably have Premiere Pro. Import the tif files as a sequence into Premiere and then export to Encore from there. You can set chapter markers in Premiere and be done with it.

Only downside is disk space for the tif files and a little bit of time but the results are worth it.

HTH.

thats an interesting thought, this workflow i outlined is already working though and my 10 hour project is finished in vegas....

seems like someone here must have done it

I use Encore all the time. You could render an .AVI from Vegas using Cineform or if ultimate quality is important, render using a lossless codec like Lagarith. The Lagarith files will be huge but will allow you to place the markers anywhere you like and let Encore handle the encoding to either HD or SD for DVD.

do you suugest the default Lagarith settings or somthing else?

do you think Lagarith would be better than 10bit dnxhd 1080p file as an HD master?

Lagarith is lossless. What more do you want?

If smaller intermediate files is an issue, then it is a matter of studying which coder fits in with your workflow best.
