Vegas Upgrade Options

Hi! My Vegas is version 5. According to "My Account", I can upgrade to version 8 for $235.

I'd like to upgrade, but I'm worried about a new version in a couple of months. Is there a period of time when I can go from v8 -> v9 for free?

I don't need to upgrade right now, should I wait?

Jerry, the way it usually works is that if you've bought an upgrade less than one month before a new release, you can get the newest version for free.
However, since there has been no official news from SCS on when (or what version) the next release is, I'd be patient and wait.
NAB is coming (Apr. 18-23) and, as is usual, all kinds of unsubstantiated rumours are flying around.

Here's an interesting wild card. After I made my initial post, I received an e-mail offering a 35% discount on all on-line purchases from Sony Creative Software - ending March 20, 2009. I assume that means my upgrade is reduced by $235 x .65 = $153 ??

Whadaya bet the new version comes out April 21?

What to do???

Last time around, Sony offered the upgrade to Vegas Pro 8for $134.95 for a downloaded version or $134.95 + $15.00 + $5.00 for shipping to get a disc and limited printed materials (full manual not included).
