Looks like there is quite a few Hawaii users out there, check this map, its got contacts too:

As for training, I found the official Sony Vegas training useful in the beginning:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/training

I used the books, but I think the Seminar Series DVD are good too. There are also some basic videos listed there, but I never have checked them out.

Also, check out VASST, it has great materials and DVDs too.

And then, there's here...lots of people willing to help. So, welcome, and ask away!

Cheers,
kairosmatt

Look on You Tube, there's a wealth of tutorials from basics to advanced effects creation.

I'd drop by, but I can't swim that far.

Hello Nick,

Born on Valley Isle,

It's a Haiku ... get it ... ?

I was born in Paia... not far from where you are;
when the plantation had a dispensary ... so certainly a long time ago;
I live in NC now... but still willing to help.
* * *
What version of Vegas ... ?
What kind of machine ... ? Single monitor... dual monitor... ?
Do you just need skype-call guidance from time-to-time, or be-there-in-the-office hands-on assistance daily ... ?
* * *
Marvin Moniz is my cousin ... no, he can't get you free tickets... lol
So, that makes Wayne Moniz my cousin as well. . . (grin)
* * *
Let me know...
Listen, I also have a long-distance working relationship with a Vegas editing friend down in Florida... so, I think we could make it work for us as well. . .

Until that time... Earl J.

Nick,
You'll see my name on that map posted above but I'm no longer in Hawaii (sad to say). We used to have a Vegas users group on Oahu. When you click on the dots, scroll down and you'll see several Vegas users that are still there. Drop them an email. Maybe they can help.
Aloha,
Randy
P.S. Moving back soon and will restart the users group when we do.

This is all very useful. I didn't know that many people in Hawaii even had electricity :)

Thanks!

Hey Nick,
as you've witnessed personally, some of them even speak what passes for English. . . (lol)

Until that time ... Earl J.
