Vegas Video 3.0 improvement suggestions

Wonderful program. Faster work flow and redering than any other PC product. I've used avid, premiere, After Effects and speed razor. This rules the roost. Great control.

I worked with this product on a fairly complex, layered 15 minute video project, and have some suggestions:

1. Crop/Scale event tool: Coner handles counterintuitive. Opposite of what I expect. You move the screen area displayed versus the object itself.
But more importantly, it doesn't seem to allow you to crop and reposition at the same time without rendering down.

2. My machine takes a long time to resume VV3 on widow focus changes (ALT+TAB). Would like to see this faster.

3. Can't seem to get any better timeline scroll performance by disabling graphs/filmstrip view from prefs menu. Scroll performance gets kinda boggy when I surpass 5 tracks.

4. Ripple delete empty gap function would be brilliant.

5. Ripple delete any clip as a right click context menu would be nice.

6. Lock clip function would be good.

7. Exchange clip function - highlight clip on timeline, highlight clip to replace from media pool - Context menu or Edit menu>Exchange would be nice.

8. More Avi, mpg render templates, or a place for users to upload them.

But I must say this after the above - I have not seen this program crash, or unrecoverably bog out once. For that, I take my hat off and offer my highest praise.

Thank you vegas video team.

I think the tool does it right. Crop/Pan should be about the frame, not the object itself. currently, Track Motion is what you would use in conjunction with Pan/Crop to crop and reposition at the same time. but yeah, it can be confusing with all the switches and settings. it took me a while to know when to lock aspect ratio, when to stretch to fill frame etc...

>>>4. Ripple delete empty gap function would be brilliant.
double-click in the gap, then hit delete.

>>>6. Lock clip function would be good.
right-click the event | Switches | Lock

>>>7. Exchange clip function - highlight clip on timeline, highlight clip to replace from media pool - Context menu or Edit menu>Exchange would be nice.

that would be nice but you can swap media by right-click-dragging it from the media pool or explorer and dropping it on an existing event. choose Add as Take. then the take becomes selectable, and the original take can be deleted. definitely needs improvement.

>>>8. More Avi, mpg render templates, or a place for users to upload them.
yes yes yes!!! when is Vegas going to have the capability to export/import presets!?! currently we have to go through a whole crazy process with the registry and finding files... it's a mess.

Thanks - See, I learned some things today by posting to this group. Anyone else have ideas on this product?

Most of what you want is in there.
Paste insert works great with Takes & video, and rules for VO audio rec. work on a looped region. It will stack the takes for you.
Once you get all the keyboard shortcuts going along with right click and scroll on mouse, the world is your oyster. A few areas to polish up, but man o man this code rocks.

Fix: "And takes rule for VO audio recording on a looped region"
