VEGAS VIDEO 3.0 vs. SOUND FORGE 6.0

Hi everyone --
I wonder if someone might be able to help me.
I'm looking to get some digital audio editing software.
I'm not sure whether I'd be better off going with Sound
Forge 6.0 or Vegas Video 3.0

I want to be able to produce broadcast-quality stuff for
radio...heavy production pieces with voice tracks, music,
sound effects, etc.

My understanding is that SF 6.0 gives me more flexibility
in terms of audio effects but that VV is better for multitrack
purposes. I realize that SF comes with a scaled-down version
of VV.

For most of my audio projects, I would probably use four
or five tracks. But there could be times when I'd want to use
even more...as many as 7 or 8.

And I want to be able to produce stuff in stereo.

I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone might have for me.
Thank you for your time, consideration and assistance.

If you want to work with 7 or 8 tracks , I think it's better to get Video Vegas for the task.
Why don't you download both of the Demos and see what you like best?

Needing multiple tracks should decide it for you right there. SoundForge is a single mono or stereo track only.

Also, almost all of the effects and processes from SoundForge are available in Vegas as well.

If you need stereo editing SF kicks. If you want multitrack recording, Vegas is what you want. If you want multitrack recording and comprehensive waveform editing, you need both.
