Vegas Video 3 capture problems with Canon zr 30

Running Vegas Video 3 with newer upgrade, direct x 8a, microsoft dv capture upgrade, on my Toshiba Satellite notebook. (Celeron 650, 192 ram) Using a Dazzle PCMCIA firewire card (yes it is compliant with OHCI using the Texas Instuments driver). Operating System is Win ME.

When using VV3, I am UNABLE to capture video off my Canon ZR30 camera. The program runs well, I am able to edit and burn video to cd. Just not able to Capture.

Right now, I have to use Ulead VideoStudio 5 to capture video. Save it to disk. Open up VV3 and edit etc. Really isn't a huge problem, however, it seems odd that I can capture with Ulead but can't with Vegas Video 3.

I have read a service bulletin from Microsoft "Cannot Record, Control, or Play Digital Video Properly with 1394 FireWire (Q252185)"

http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q252185
(says I need these newer drivers
Date Time Version Size File name

Jul 31st, 2000 06:59p 4.90.3001.0 49,808 Ohci1394.sys

But unable to find them anywhere. Would these possibly fix the problem?
Could this be the reason why it isn't working with Vegas? Very odd how Ulead works but VV3 doesn't for Capture. I don't want to install and loose all DV capture ability and create a headache to fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am growing more and more frusterated.

When the device is connected and turned on, it should show up under Imaging Devices in Device Manager. In Video Capture, "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR" should show up under the Video menu.

If these aren't the case, then goto Help->Sonic Foundry on the Web->OHCI and DV Information.

Looked in Windows ME Device manager....couldn't find "Imaging Devices". I did find "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" It says 1394 DV Camcorder. Under properties, it is a Texas Instruments using driver date 07-09-1999.

In Vegas Video Capture under video menu, it says DVcam Capture.

Is this what you mean?

I couldn't find the OHCI and DV information on your website. Any pointers on how to find it?

Video Capture still not working.

Please shed some light on this for me!

You need to update that driver, right-click it and select "Properties", click the driver tab and select "Update driver". Get the driver from windows update. It should be called "Microsoft DV camera and VCR". Check your device manager again and it should then show up under "Imaging devices".

Yes, exactly please, in Video Capture goto the Help menu->Sonic Foundry on the Web->OHCI and DV Information. This will lead you thru getting the proper driver installed.
