Vegas Video 3 demo Install fails on Windows 98 SE

I've just downloaded the demo of Vegas Video 3 (heard great things about Vegas Video, and I'm sick of the ULead stuff I got with my firewire card), but when I try to install it I get the following error box :

You must have at least Windows 98SE,
Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
to install this application

[OK]

and on pressing OK

I get an error from the Vegas 3.0 installer saying that the Install wizard ended prematurely.

The problem is that I'm on windows 98SE...

Has anyone else on 98SE come accross this error message ? I've tried installing the DirectX 8.1 download they point you to on the download page (though I was pretty sure I had it installed already), but made no difference.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

John

I don't have a solution for you but I can attest to the fact that VV3 will install and run on W98SE.

I installed the trial version and then later bought and upgraded to the full version. No errors; no problems. Running Win98SE with DirectX 8.1 on box with Abit KG7-RAID MB and Athlon 1.4Ghz processor.

Hope you get this figured out. VV3 is a great program and I believe you will enjoy using it.

Well, I figured out the problem - I wasn't actually runing 98 SE - only 98 - on that system. Guess I'll have to upgrade it...
