Vegas Video 3 - minimize files and discard unused footage

Hey there all. I recently tried out Vegas Video 3 and man am I impressed. Premiere is so friggin sluggish and not user friendly in comparison. One thing concerns me though. I could not see any feature that is the same as 'project trimmer' in Premiere or something like 'prepare archive' in Cubase or Nuendo. Basically what this would do is discard all unused footage and reduce files that are only partly used. This is a MUST HAVE feature, as I can't see how I would archive even small projects without removing all the crap.

How do you all get around this? I couldn't even see an option to render just a clip from the timeline so then i could replace the original (reference to the bigger file) with the rendered copy.

thanks in advance.

Use 'Save As...' and click the check box (forgotten the name - there is only 1 checkbox) this will trim everything up nicely.

I use the split command to chop up sections, and then if I highlight (select) just that section of the clip you can render just the highlighted section to the format you choose. Make sure render loop region is checked.
