Vegas Video and User Permissions under Win2K?

A registered copy of VV was installed while logged on as
Administrator.

It appears that those with access to the box using "User"
account privileges can not use Vegas Video without
the "Do you want to register the program?" box coming up
just as if you had loaded a demo. Only Administrator and
Power User accounts can use the program.

It is likely something simple we are overlooking, but no
amount of setting permissions to mirror the above accounts
on the SF directory seems to alleviate the problem ... is
there a registry hack to overcome this?

We would like to keep the "User" privileges intact and
Vegas is the only program loaded that exhibits this
behavior.

Thanks.

In Windows 2000, standard user permissions have been reduced to
provide tighter system security. Unfortunately, there is a bug in
our registration/security code which causes our apps to not recognize
that you've registered successfully if you are running with standard
user permissions. Therefore, in order to use Vegas Video without
always receiving a request for registration at startup, you must run
the program with at least power user permissions (note that power
user permissions are closer to what normal user permissions were in
Windows NT). This is a quote from the Power Users properties
page: "Power Users possess most administrative powers with some
restrictions. Thus, Power Users can run legacy applications in
addition to certified applications." Likewise, the Users property
page says, "Users are prevented from making accidental or intentional
system-wide changes. Thus, Users can run certified applications, but
not most legacy applications."

We will be fixing this problem as quickly as possibly.

Thank you, Dave ... glad to see you guys are on top of it. "Power
Users" it is for the time being.

Thanks for the info.
