That's what I thought. A salesman who I bought a keyboard from told me different. Great keyboard though.
Another question,
I want to upgrade to Vegas Pro next week from Platinum. I've been using the demo for about a week. Which would be the most hassle free, to get the academic version or the upgrade option? Also, I would like to get the boxed version so should I uninstall the demo before installing it and are there any upgrading issues I should be aware of?
Whether you get the upgrade or academic depends on the pricing -- Vegas Pro is a separate application, it doesn't overwrite MS Platinum.
If you get the boxed version you can possibly just enter your serial # and register the demo.
OTOH, If you uninstall any Sony/SF product from your computer I've found it is a good idea to save backups of your plugins folders -- once I uninstalled a demo and it took shared plugins from my legit registered versions with it. This was back in the days of Vegas 3.
I've owned Vegas Video since Version 2, however 90% + of the editing work I do could be done just as easily in Movie Studio.
Actually Larry, I think Vegas Audio was dropped after Version 2; I don't recall a Version 3, however my memory is not the best.
My Software on the support has: "Vegas Video 3.0" with my key. I also started with VA2 and remember wondering if the video features in VV3 were worth the extra $50 or so. They were.
As sort of trip down memory lane I still have the install files back to VA2. VA2 was 24MB while V8b is 117MB.
I'm still mostly doing audio and still liking VP8.
I'm waiting for the boxed academic version to arrive. Vegas Pro has some great audio tools for making seamless loops and integrates with Sound Forge really well. My demo will run out about the time I get the box so I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably just un-install the demo if it's still going and install from the CD.
Nahhh, no need to uninstall the demo. Just register it with the serial number and you'll be fine. In fact, the demo is probably the latest release V8.0b where the copy on the disc you get may be an older release.
The demo is 8.0b and it shows my name and a serial #. I purchased the box from Academic Superstore. My purchase doesn't show up in my account here so how can I register the demo?
I don't know the exact steps and mouse clicks involved as i haven't purchased that route before. However, you'll go into Vegas' activation menu under help, enter the new serial number, and let it activate (probably online is the best choice). This will cause an activation number to be generated and sent back to your computer that will unlock the demo version into the full version. Also after this happens you'll see your serial number listed in the "My Account / My software" link at the top of this page.
I was going to ask this question too. Thanks for the answer.
By the way, since I am very novice/non-pro I have yet to find a reason for using Pro over Platinum other than the fact that I have Pro not Platinum. I have considered UPgrading to Platinum for the "Show me how" (the best tutorial system EVER - I have never enjoyed using any other tutorial system, but that was just great) and the integration with Youtube, though I have no idea what the latter that may be.
Oh come to think of it, I got Pro partly because it has slightly more in the way of audio editing. Which leads me to my next question on a seperate thread.
