Vegas Video: Can I open file created in "Premiere"

I teach Audio tracking (soundtrack and sound audio) for an A\V class. I would like to get Vegas Video for the students to work with mainly because the UI lends itself to a faster learnign curve than Premiere.
(I use Vegas Audio for my home studio and find it to be the fastest tool to get clients works out quickly).

Before I get it, i wanted to ask any of you if you have any issues opening video files created in Adobe Premiere in Vegas Video?

What file formats in premiere would you want to save\convert to open it in Vegas Video for soundtracking and sound addtions later?

Is there a converter of Premirere format files to the best format for Vegas Video?.

I've been using Premiere for capturing my video because my capture card (Pinnacle DC10 Plus) isn't compatible with the SF Video Capture...I've had no problems importing the avi capture files into Vegas Video...hope that helps a bit...anyone else have some input?

Both Premiere (also AfterFX) and Vegas read and write openDML avi/DV files using the DirectX8 DV codec.

Both Premiere and Vegas write and read wav files.

Premiere can generate a CMX 3600 edl that Vegas can read should you want some basic project compatibility.
