There is a Canopus driver that allows you to capture analogue video in uncompressed format, using the Storm card and Vegas VidCap software. However, there is no way to use the Storm card for video editing within Vegas. (Even the firewire port is not OHCI compliant.) Storm is only compatible with Storm Edit, Edius and Premiere editing software.

Yes. You can capture with Storm, edit in Vegas (using Canopus codec or not) and then archive, or send back to Storm for printing to tape.

... but you won't have any advantage of using the storm against other cheaper converters if you use Vegas with it.

You can capture DV in Storm using Canopus DVCapture software, but not with Vegas. As Spot says, you can edit the Canopus DV files in Vegas, but you can't use the Storm to PTT or to view video on external monitor from within Vegas (at least, I can't do this on my system).

Vegas really needs an OHCI compliant 1394 card for capture, PTT and external preview, and Storm is not OHCI. So far, I have not found any useful way to make Storm work with Vegas.

Only if you use Premiere or a Canopus software combinend with the Storm. Vegas does not benefit of the realtime features of this card in any way.
