Nope, no special driver IF the card is OHCI. Firewire doesn't necessarily mean that it is. When you plug in the device, does the dialog that pops up even grant you the option to capture w/Vegas? If not, I'd run to the local computer store, pick up an ADS, Unibrain, SIIG or Orange 1394 card, install it, and see what happens. Is the card using a Microsoft driver or other driver? Look at the card in Control Panel to determine which driver is being used.
Also be sure that the 1394 card is disabled in your network settings, you can get to that via the Control Panel as well. Right click to disable.

There is an issue with some Canopus products and Dell, got to the Canopus ADVC family forums and check under what ever product you have, the ADVC-100 or ADVC-1394 for example.

this happens not only with the canopus a/D converter but with my dig 8 firewire in also. For some reason vegas wont pick up the device

You still might want to talk to Tech Support at Canopus - it may also be affecting your dig 8 firewire.

Anyhoo... I was having serious problems with my 3 week old Dell Precision Workstation and ACEDvio until Tech Support sent me some updated files to copy and now everything (digital included) works like a charm.

Hope things work out for you :)

The advc 100 canopus (external box) isnt even hooked up when the problem occurs.. As mentioned vegas sees no 1394 devices ...windows moviemaker works great.
