Vegas will not accept non-licensed Sample HD Microsoft files

Downloaded several Microsoft sample wmv HD files and they all worked fine and all went into Vegas fine except for the Scooby 2 file.
Media Player would not open this file either until the license was downloaded and then Media player worked fine. The file still would not go into Vegas. Is this some new tricky stuff or does something else have to happen?

Whatever it is it would seem quite reasonable to me. WMP9 makes an attempt at respecting DRM, the licences no doubt include the keys to unlock the videos for WMP9 to play them. Why should Vegas be able to open copyright material?
Presumably if you bought the copyright to Scooby 2 they'd give you a copy without DRM embedded in it.

Yeah, I had some songs from Napster and wanted to burn them to CD via Vegas. I tried to but I couldn't because of the copyright (WMA files). I can only play then in napster & WMP.

annoying in my opinion.

That explains it then. I was just curious why it would work in wmp and not in Vegas.

Needless to say there's several ways around the DRM, if it can be played out it can ALWAYS be recorded one way or another.
