Vegas-Windows-Motu-Are They Happy?

It is that time to build a new computer for the studio. Right now we are at
Windows XP Pro, Service Pack-1, Vegas 5.0D, and use the Motu 2408 with
there DA 38's as our guide into the real world. Besides the problems with
clicks and pops in the tracks from 17-24, all seems happy. Is there anyone
out in the audio world using a setup like this with Vista, Vegas 7 and Motu and if
so are you happy? Are there still clicks and pops? Does outlook look better?
Thanks...

I"m happy. MOTU 828mkII. Altho Vegas doesn't recognize the timecode input onthe MOTU box, Im' using an Opcode Studio4 for SMPTE to MTC and it's worked fine for year. Custom PC, single processor, 2gb ram, three Hard drives, Canopus 100 for video in/out, clean, professional, consistent results here. XP Pro SP2.

Analogue and TDIF inputs on 2408/2 . No clicks or pops - never were a problem for me though. I gather the PCI324 has problems with some mobo chipsets though. PCI424 less so ...

I echo that the PCI424 runs great. I have 2 2408, xp, vegas, no troubles. I'm not too keen on Vista yet with driver support being non-existent to extremely young...

I had the clicking and popping problem a couple of years ago. I don't recall what I had to do to fix it, but I remember finding the answer in Sony facs. I had to reset a parameter in Vegas and all was well. I will try to remember or recreate what I did and let you know. Perhaps it was setting the sound source on the 324 card? I don't really remember. But end result is that the combination of 2400 with XP with Vegas is flawless.
