Vegas Won't Load All Versions

Daniel-Jircik wrote on 6/23/2023, 2:43 PM

Hello,

I'm currently hit with this problem thats been widely reported since early May. I have used Vegas for many years and have downloads and serial numbers going back to vegas10. Re installing these versions reveals all versions affected. Program installs, accepts serial number/registration, shuts down after splash screen. Program was working fine for many months, It's been down for weeks now and I'm desperate to get to my client materal.

Windows 11(legal)

Intel i9 12th Gen 12900K

Nvidia GeForce GTX980 (old I know but it works)

128GB ram

Vegas 20 (legal)

I've submitted a support ticket [Ticket#2023061917000193] and the only suggestion they came up with was trying to install program in Administrator mode, copying desktop start icon and pasting it to user space Desktop. (Did not work) Support ticket has gone silent for 3 days now after repeatedly asking for status update.

Here is a summary of actions taken as per google search etc.

---Uninstall program , clean registry and cache with Revo (same behavior on reinstall)

---Start Vegas without Network, disconect ethernet, disable wifi. No luck

---Change date and time to future date. This causes machine to shutdown and reboot but doesnt fix the problem.

---Switched to the Emergency build 403, same behavior

---Tried latest build 411, same behavior

I've noticed that the posts and youtube videos that purport to fix this are running windows 10 so perhaps it's a windows 11 issue?

of an announcement....

video shows how to trick it using Task Manager on Windows 10 but the program responds differently under 11. It ownly shows up in Task Manager for a second or two.

video shows the network disconect technique on Windows 10. Does not work for Windows 11

video shows reinstalling fix build 403 on Windows 10 but does not work on Windows 11

date crashes my machine.

Does anyone here have Vegas 20 running on Windows 11 and perhaps you could share your system specs? My livelyhood is on the line here and any help, advice or guidance would be seriously appreciated.

Thanks

I got a one sentence response from Magix

"We would suggest checking for magix low latency asio driver on your system and disabling it."
Does anyone know how to do this? No info thats applicable anywhere.

SOLVED delete low latency asio driver with registry editor.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

Glad you found the culprit. Not all systems have the ASIO driver.

Not all systems have the ASIO driver.

The 'Magix ASIO Low Latency 2016 driver' is typically installed along with Sound Forge Audio Studio and has been known to cause what has been described as a screeching noise in Vegas and other programs that have audio capability.

When I read about the ASIO issue I went looking for it as I have Sound Forge 16 Pro but it is not loaded with this version as far as I can see.
