Vegas won't recognize video card to do GPU render

I have a XFX Double D Raden R9 280 R9-280X Video card (AMD Radeon R9 200 Series). I have verified that my video card drivers are updated. However, when rendering in Vegas Pro 11 and selecting "Render using GPU if available," I receive an almost immediate failure message.

When I checked to see what GPU Vegas is using, the only option listed (under Options > Preferences > Video > GPU acceleration of video processing) other than off is "Advance Micro Device, Inc. (Tahiti)." Why is my AMD Radeon card not listed? I'm sure that is why it can't render using my GPU.

My render time is SO SLOW! Any advice appreciated.

The last AMD chip that was supported by Vegas for GPU rendering under Sony AVC or MC AVC is the one in the HD6970 card; Cayman I believe. If you need MP4 for Internet or others, search this forum for the "Vegas to Handbrake" solution.
