They are separate applications that are designed to be used with each other, but can be used separately (i.e., with other software). You can lay down chapter marks in Vegas with DVD Architect will read, and the MPEG-2 rendered from Vegas will work in DVD-A without re-rendering. But, you can also render from Vegas into another DVD application, or read other files into DVD-A. I hope this helps answer your question.

In other words - could you use DVD Architect with VV3 if you use VV3 rendered mpeg2 files ?
Would suit me fine for the moment.

I don't think you can buy Architect as a stand alone product , so you'd have to have Vegas 4 with it anyway.
